SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary softball team returned to the diamond for non-conference action and dropped a doubleheader to Division II member Mississippi College 6-3, 10-0. The two stumbles moved the Ladies to 5-13 on the season.

In the opener, the Choctaws jumped on the board early cruising to a 6-0 lead after three innings. MC held the advantage until the bottom of the sixth when the Maroon and White nipped into the deficit with a pair of homeruns.

Anna Dunn placed the Ladies on the board with a two-run dinger to score Emily Sexton, who walked to lead off the inning. Cadie Hancock, one batter later, drilled a solo homer to clip the lead in half, but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome the early hole.

In the nightcap, the Blue and Gold again jumped on the board early with seven runs in the first two trips to the late, including a six-run, second inning. MC added three runs in the fifth to capture the victory. The Choctaws amassed 16 hits in the outing to lead to the run total.

The offense was stymied as Elizabeth LaFisca logged the only Ladies hit in the outing.

Laura Perilloux (1-8) took the loss in the circle in both affairs. The sophomore totaled 8.1 innings and allowed 11 runs – eight earned – on 13 hits. Haley Miller tossed 3.2 frames in the second outing, surrendered five runs on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, march 28 as it hosts Austin College. First pitch of the twinbill is slated for Noon.
