CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Centenary softball team dropped a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference play at the University of the Ozarks. The Lady Eagles posted a 13-4 victory in the opener and rallied to down the Ladies in the final contest 13-12 in eight innings.

Carissa Herndon paced the Maroon and White on the afternoon going 5-for-7 with three RBI.

In the finale of the afternoon, Centenary held an 11-2 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth in large to a six-run top of the fifth inning. UO responded in the bottom of the frame with four runs to clip the lead to 11-6.

The Ladies added a run in the top of the top, but witnessed the Ozarks answer with six runs in the home half of the inning to tie the contest at 12-all. After a scoreless seventh, Centenary was held off the board setting up the rally for the Lady Eagles as Carlee Sorensen scored on an error to end the game.

Herndon and Raney Mixon led the Ladies at the dish with multi-hit efforts. Herndon posted four hits in the contest with two RBI while Mixon added three hits. Anna Dunn led the squad with three RBI in the outing. Haley Miller supplied two runs batted in.

In the opener, the offense was stymied with just six hits on the afternoon. Emily Sexton and Codi Coghlan each tallied multiple hits as the duo combined for four of the total hits on the afternoon. Coghlan also paced the squad with two RBI.

Laura Perilloux received both losses in the circle. The sophomore hurler allowed 14 runs on 14 hits in 4.1 innings of work. Miller logged the most work on the bump as she tossed 6.1 frames without a decision. The freshman allowed seven runs on nine hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Centenary returns to action on Wednesday, April 1 as it travels to Conway, Ark., for a doubleheader at Hendrix College. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
