CONWAY, Ark. – The Centenary softball team dropped an 8-6 affair at Hendrix College on Wednesday afternoon. The second game of the doubleheader was canceled in the bottom of the fifth due to weather and lightning.

The Ladies logged all six runs in the first two trips to the plate, including a four-run first frame to take a 6-4 lead through two innings. After the Maroon and White used two walks and an error to load the bags, Carissa Herndon hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Morgan Daigle.

Two batters later, Lizzie Moran drew the fourth walk of the inning to score Emily Sexton, who walked earlier in the frame. The final two runs came as Anna Dunn and Codi Coghlan scored on the second Warriors’ error.

After HC added a run in the bottom of the first, Herndon delivered a two-run single to score Dunn and Daigle and complete the Ladies’ scoring in the contest.

Hendrix scored seven unanswered runs in the second, third and fourth innings to rally and capture the win.

Coghlan (0-1) took the loss in the circle for the Ladies. The freshman tossed 1.1 innings with three runs allowed on two hits and three walks.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, April 11 as it travels to Trinity University. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
