SHREVEPORT, LA – The Centenary college women’s soccer team (1-6, 0-3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) put three shots on goal in the first minutes, but could not cash in as Southwestern (3-4-1, 2-0-1) tallied a goal in each half as the Ladies lost 2-0 at Mayo Field on Sunday afternoon, September 20.

In the first eight minutes of the game, Centenary pressured Southwestern with a trio of shots on goal. Less than two minutes into the game, junior Marissa Hughes put a shot on target, but Pirates goalie Kylie Hunt grabbed the save.

After a pair of Southwestern fouls, senior Madison Alexander and Hughes each had a pair of shots corralled by Hunt. The Ladies managed a trio more of shots on goal the rest of the game as Southwestern went on to outshoot the Maroon and White, 28-6.

Sarah Bevins scored in the first half while Kierstyn Luckock, on a pass from Shannon Lukehart, tallied a goal in the second half for the Pirates.

Junior Erica Coker (1-5) took the loss, grabbing 13 saves on 15 shots faced. Kylie Hunt (3-4-1) saved all six shots faced for Southwestern.

The Ladies return to action Friday, September 25, against Trinity for their first SCAC road game of the year.
