SHERMAN, Texas – The Ladies made early pushes in both halves, but it was a goal in the 53rd minute by the ‘Roos which proved to be the difference as Centenary (2015, 1-11 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Austin College (3-12-2, 2-8-1 SCAC) Thursday afternoon in the season finale for the Centenary women’s soccer team.

The Maroon and White managed the first five shots of the game, including a shot on target by both sophomore Riley Spudic and junior Marissa Hughes. Both teams ended the first half with four shots on goal.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Hughes managed a pair of shots – including one on goal – but the Ladies came up empty. In the 53rd minute, a through ball from Austin College’s Erika Eckert found the foot of Myranda Baumgartner, who beat the Centenary junior goalkeeper Erica Coker (2-10) for her first goal of the season.

Junior Hannah Jo Wright managed a pair of shots and Hughes added another later in the second half, but ‘Roos goalie Laura McGee (3-12-2) repelled all three shots.

Hughes led Centenary with eight shots, five of which were on goal. Coker grabbed nine saves in 10 shots faced. Eckart and Ashley Rice both recorded three shots on target for Austin College while McGee grabbed all eight shots faced.

Coker finished the season fourth all-time in single-season saves, finishing with 114. In three seasons, she has 299 saves, just one short of becoming only the fourth Ladies goalie to reach the 300-save plateau.
