LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – In a vote by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference head coaches, junior Marissa Hughes (Richardson, Texas/Plano East HS) has been named Second Team All-Conference.

“This is a well deserved accolade for Marissa,” said head coach David Orr. “All of the SCAC is aware of Marissa’s talent, but what goes unnoticed is her leadership and sacrifice for her team. I’m really proud of her!”

Hughes led the team in both goals (five) and points (11). In her first game of the season, a Centenary 4-2 win against East Texas Baptist September 1, Hughes became the first Ladies soccer player to record a hat trick in three years. She had a hand in every goal, assisting the game-opening goal.

Hughes netted what proved to be the game-winner shortly before halftime. It was only one of three hat tricks in the conference this season, as this feat was not replicated for nearly a month after Hughes.

In her next home game just a week later, Hughes scored a pair of goals. The Ladies comeback against LeTourneau fell short, 5-4.

Centenary finished the 2015 season 2-15 and 1-11 in the SCAC.
