Freshman Aspen Hattley Delivers this Week's Gym Talk!
Thursday, February 25, 2016

Hello Ladies and Gent fans! It is freshman Aspen Hattley checking in for this week’s Gym Talk! Surviving a six competitions in three weekends stretch, these ladies have revved back up for Friday’s dual competition against Wisconsin-Whitewater in Whitewater, Wisconsin. With only three days to prepare for this competition before traveling off, the Ladies needed to come in with a focus of making every tenth count in our routines. Despite a very rough start in the weeks’ practice, the ladies came together as a team and pushed each other to their fullest potential.

Our meet in Wisconsin was an opportunity to get some more experience in for those who has stepped up into new line-up positions.  We did not have any falls on three of our four events, so we are continuing to show improvement.  There were many individual accomplishments! Despite our bumpy start on bars, senior Megan Desjardins added vaulting to her events, as this is first time competing all-around for the 2016 season! Nice job Megan! Two of our own took the second and third places on vault with Noel Stubbs taking second, earning a season high 9.750 and Ashley White took third with a 9.675. Ashley also took first place on bars, freshman Navia Jordan taking second place on floor while Ashley White also placed second in all-around! Way to go Ladies.

These Ladies have shown what dedication, commitment, drive and pushing through the storm really means, as I see fight in each and every one of the 17 Ladies growing more and more. We are striving for greatness in and outside of the gym, and I couldn’t be more proud of them! Each journey is a work of art, and the Ladies are painting the picture with bright colors. As we gear up for our next competition against Texas Woman’s this Saturday, we are able to concentrate on team work and making each turn count as we come down to our final meets. As we continue to push strong throughout the season, we also want to thank you for your support to the Centenary Gymnastics team! We hope to see you in Denton, Texas, to cheer on the Ladies at 6 p.m., but if not, make sure to tune into the next Gym Talk to hear how they did as you won’t want to miss it! Goooooo Ladies!!!
