Swimming Announces a Pair of Gents and Ladies for 2016-17

SHREVEPORT, La. – Announced Wednesday, August 10, the Centenary swimming team announced the addition of four swimmer for the 2016-17 season. This includes a pair of swimmers from the Pelican State and a pair from Texas.

 

Lindsey Dettwiller

Backstroke-Freestyle / 5-4

Ponchatoula, La. / St. Thomas Aquinas

Dettwiller swam freestyle and backstroke for head coach Patrick Dettwiller at St. Thomas Aquinas. She was a member of the Falcons Tangipahoa Parish Championship team. Academically, she graduated fifth in her class and was the Beta Club Vice President.

Dettwiller is the daughter of Patrick and Judy Dettwiller and has two brothers, Aiden and Breysen. At Centenary, she intends to major in biochemistry.

 

 

Eddie Dyess

Breaststroke-Freestyle / 6-4

Vidor, Texas / Vidor HS

Dyess swam for head coach Berti Loken at Vidor High School. He earned three MVP awards and seven district championships (four in 100 breaststroke and three in the 200 IM) while also holding all school records for the Pirates. At regionals, Dyess finished third in the 200 IM and fourth in the breaststroke. He also was named Super Gold Boys Swim Team MVP. Dyess also swam for the First Colony Swim Team.

Born in Beaumont, Texas, he is the son of Lori and Glen Dyess with one sister, Stephani. At Centenary, he intends to major in engineering.

 

 

Liz Ryan

Freestyle-Breaststroke / 5-11

San Antonio, Texas / Alamo Heights HS

Ryan swam for head coaches Mel Allick and Don Walker at Alamo Heights High School. She helped the Mules win an UIL State Championship in 2014. Individually, Ryan finished as an All-American in the 50 and 100 free, while swimming on the 200 free and 400 free and the 200 medley relays. She also swam a leg of the 2014 UIL State Championship 200 and 400 free relays. Besides Ryan’s State appearances on relay teams, she individually qualified in the 50 and 100 free and the 100 breaststroke.

Daughter of John and Helena Ryan, she has one brother Michael. At Centenary, she intends to major in psychology.

 

 

Jordan St. Pierre

Freestyle / 6-0

LaPlace, La. / St. Charles Catholic HS

St. Pierre swam for head coach Michelle Jensen at St. Charles Catholic High School. He swam on the Comets 2011 State Championship, while individually he grabbed All-District honors three times and All-State accolades twice. Academically at St. Charles Catholic, he won the President’s Academic Excellence Award, National Honor Society Award, the Beta Club Award, the Math Club Award, the Bronze Medal in Service Hours, and also achieved Alpha Honor Roll status.

Son of Aaron and Shelley St. Pierre, he has one brother, Gavin. At Centenary, he intends to major in biology.
