SHERMAN, Texas – The Gents cut the deficit in half in the second stanza, but the ‘Roos held on as Centenary (3-1, 0-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell to Austin College (2-1, 1-0 SCAC) in Sherman, Texas, Friday afternoon, Sept. 9.

In the 56th minute, sophomore Colin Maloney scored his first goal in a Gents uniform on freshman Bailey DeRoussel’s first collegiate assist. However, Austin College held on for the 2-1 win.

The ‘Roos outshot the Maroon and White 24-11, including 10-5 in shots on target.

Thomas Quick opened the scoring for the home team in the eighth minute on a pass from Phillip Le. Just five minutes later, Le scored his second goal of the season on a pass from Jack Wheaton.

Senior Rylan Whan (3-1) grabbed eight saves in the game and has 307 for his Centenary career. Joseph Khalaf saved 4-of-5 shots faced to improve to 2-1 for Austin College.

Centenary returns to action against McMurry at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. The game will be played at North Field on the campus of Austin College.
