Hey Ladies Gym Fans!

This is Sophomore Navia Jordan here with this week’s gym talk! This week the Centenary Ladies are returning home from a weekend in Missouri where we competed against Southeast Missouri State University.

One of the best things about this weekend is that the whole team got to travel to SEMO and support one another! It always helps to have the team there cheering you on as you go out and show off all the hard work you have been putting in at the gym! The higher the energy, the more fun it is to compete!

We started out the weekend loading the bus Thursday morning after attending our 8 a.m. classes.  We had a long drive up to southern Missouri, but we watched a movie, napped and had study hall to help pass the time. We arrived in Cape Girardeau in time to check into the hotel and then head out to a team dinner, which is always entertaining!  After dinner we had some fun at the hotel with “game night”! We played Twister, Angry Birds, Frackle, Uno, and Don’t Break the Ice. We also did a short music video :>)

On meet day, we went out and enjoyed the beautiful day in Cape Girardeau. We stopped by the gym to do our mental rehearsal and then headed off to the nature center where we learned about the land and the animals in the Mississippi valley. The most interesting topic seemed to be the two-headed snake and how much it was like a gymnast; it has two brains that always argue with each other! Then we loaded the bus and headed downtown to the riverfront for a short walk and lots of pictures (everywhere we go, there are lots of pictures). After some fresh air, we were ready to head back to the hotel for lunch and the shenanigans of getting ready for a meet!

The Centenary Ladies started the meet out on the uneven bars. Shout out to Sophomore Aspen Hattley for starting the night out right by swinging a gorgeous bar routine! Keep doing your thang girl! Also, shout out to Freshman Evelyn Harris for making a comeback in the vault line up with an effortless yurchenko layout! Congrats on your career high of 9.625 with a second place finish! Shout out to Junior Ashley White for hitting a beautiful bar routine and energetic floor routine, scoring a 9.5 and 9.75! I love competing with you girl, you are an amazing gymnast! Finally, shout out to freshman Delia Ardoin for hitting her exhibition beam routine! Can’t wait to see your precise gymnastics back in line ups!

Overall, the Ladies had so many great routines this weekend and we will definitely work on improving upon them in the gym this week for our next meet. This upcoming weekend we will be hosting our very own Senior Night meet against Lindenwood University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 25th! Please come out and support your favorite Centenary Ladies before heading to the Mardi Gras parade!
