SHREVEPORT, La. – The Ladies closed out the 2017 home slate with a pair of losses as Centenary (11-19, 8-8 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) fell in game one, 7-0, before losing the nightcap to Southwestern (18-10, 11-3 SCAC) Sunday afternoon, April 9.

After 13 scoreless innings on the day, the Ladies brought the winning run to the plate in game two. With two outs, freshman Kaitlyn Price singled. Sophomore Payton LeBlanc was hit by a pitch and junior Kelcey Ancelot laid down a bunt single. However, the pitcher threw wildly to first to allow Price to score and LeBlanc to move to third. A dropped soft liner to third loaded the bases, but sophomore Wendy Gillet flew out to end the game.

Ancelot finished the game with four hits in as many at-bats. Sophomore Nichole Aldridge (7-10) took the loss in the circle, allowing nine hits and four runs (three earned) in seven innings of work.

Kaitlynn Copher hit a double and triple with a run scored for the Pirates, while McKenna Zinke hit a two run home run in the fifth, her third home run of the season. In the circle, Lindsey Longuet (10-4) threw two complete games, allowing just 10 hits and one unearned run with three walks and 10 strikeouts in 14 innings of work.

In game one, the Maroon and White managed two hits in the third, but a caught stealing cut the rally attempt short. Southwestern scored three in the third and sixth, as well as a single tally in the seventh. Copher went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI’s.

Centenary returns to action Thursday, April 13, for a four-game set at Dallas. First pitch on Thursday is at 5 p.m., with a 1 p.m. start time on Friday.
