Ladies Soccer Announces 10 Newcomers for the 2017 Season

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary Ladies soccer and first-year head coach Greg Cathell is pleased to announce the addition of 11 student-athletes for the 2017 season.

The season kicks off September 1 on the campus of Millsaps in Jackson, Mississippi, against Huntingdon at 3 p.m. The Ladies open up the home slate and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at Mayo Field on September 8 against Austin College at 5 p.m.

 

Here is a closer look at all 11 newcomers:

 

Tiff Alfaro

Fr. / 5-6

Cypress, Texas / Cypress Springs HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Alfaro played midfield and defense for Vickie Manies at Cypress Springs High School, finishing Second Team All-District for the Panthers. She was also named Academic All-District.

Personal: She is the daughter of Brenda Agreda and has two sisters, Alondra and Yulexis, and three brothers, Abrian, Markus, and Romeo. At Centenary, she intends to major in accounting.

 

Piper Beilke

Fr. / 5-6

Waterbury, Vt. / Harwood Union HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Beilke was a three-sport athlete in soccer, alpine skiing, and lacrosse at Harwood Union High School, earning 11 letters in 12 seasons of competition. She helped the Highlanders win a State Championship in soccer. Beilke served as a captain her senior season for all three sports played. In alpine skiing, she made All-State and Vermont Eastern All-League. She was also named to the Senior Showcase in lacrosse.

Personal: She is the daughter of Alison Serre and Russell Beilke and has one brother, Max. At Centenary, she intends to major in psychology.

 

Morgan Ersoff

Fr. / 5-4

Bossier City, La. / Parkway HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Played center and outside midfield, as well as outside midfield, for head coach Che Walcott at Parkway High School. During her high school career, she has numerous accolades with the Panthers, including First Team All-State, All-District, and All-Parish, as well as making the State All-Star Team. Ersoff helped the Panthers to the State Semifinals in 2016 and State Quarterfinals in 2017 and served as Team Captain during the 2016-17 season. Academically, Ersoff made the All-Academic Composite Team and 0was named Valedictorian. As a sophomore, she was a member of championship cross country team in 2014. In club soccer, she played for the Shreveport United 99G.

Personal: Daughter of David Ersoff and Patti Andrews, she has a sister, Madison Ersoff. At Centenary, she intends to major in biology.

 

Pamela Fonseca

Fr. / 5-2

Houston, Texas / Langham Creek HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Fonseca played center midfield and forward for head coach Pedro Bueno at Langham Creek High School. At Langham, she made the academic Honor Roll all four years and was named Academic All-District Honorable Mention (2014-16) All-District Second Team (2017). Fonseca also played for the Club Team Albion.

Personal: The daughter of Teresa Alvarez and Tomas Fonseca, she has one brother, Rogelio Fonseca. At Centenary, intends to major in biology.

 

Kyra Montes

So. / 5-8

Shreveport, La. / Mississippi College

 

Prior to Centenary: Montes saw action in 18 games, starting in 14 at Mississippi College. She accumulated 15 points and accounted for seven assists, stats that both ranked second for the Choctaws. Montes scored four goals, with two game-winners. Academically, she was named to the Gulf South Conference FireSeeds Academic Honor Roll and to the Mississippi College Dean’s List. Prior to college, she played forward for head coach Lisa Levermann at CE Byrd High School, serving as team captain for two years. Montes was selected as All-District MVP, All-District Offensive MVP and a Wendy's High School Heisman State Finalist for her efforts during her senior season. She was named All-District 1st Team in all four years of high school. Montes also played for the Mississippi Rush club team.

Personal: The daughter of Julio and Kerensa Montes, she has two brothers, Elijah and Joseph. At Centenary, she intends to major in pre-medicine.

 

Kailey Morgan

Fr. / 5-3

Shreveport, La. / Caddo Magnet HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Morgan played defense for head coach John Lee at Caddo Magnet High School. She also was a member of Key Club, a 4-H Vice President, and the National Honor Society.

Personal: The daughter of Tami and Matt Morgan, she has one sister, Kelsey, and one brother, Chris Hodges. At Centenary, she intends to major in biology and pre-med.

 

Caroline Olson

Fr. / 5-10

Bossier City, La. / Airline HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Played outside and center back, as well as holding midfield, for head coach Walt Peoples at Airline High School. For the Vikings, she was the only one in Bossier Parish to make First Team All-District and All-Parish. Olson also played for the Shreveport United Club Team.

Personal: She is the daughter of Michael and Sally Olson. At Centenary, she is majoring in biology.

 

Maggie Pitcher

Fr. / 5-9

San Antonio, Texas / Winston Churchill HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Pitcher played goalie for Winston Churchill High School. For the Chargers, she was named Academic All-State three years in a row and was a member of the National Honors Society, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was also a member of the Lonestar club team, who took second and third at States.

Personal: The daughter of Jay and Carrie Pitcher, she has two sisters, Katelyn and Tess. At Centenary, she intends to major in biology.

 

Ami Powers

Fr. / 5-8

Katy, Texas / Cypress Springs HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Powers played as a defender for head coach Vickie Manies at Cypress Springs High School. Academically, she was on the Honor Roll and Distinguished Honor Roll. She also played volleyball as an outside hitter for the Panthers.

Personal: The daughter of Emilee and Andrew Powers, she has two sisters, Sophia and Isabella. At Centenary, she intends to major in mathematics.

 

Kelly Vazquez

Fr. / 5-1

Katy, Texas / Cypress Spring HS

 

Prior to Centenary: Vazquez played forward and midfield for head coach Vickie Manies at Cypress Springs High School. Academically, she was named All-District Honorable Mention.

Personal: The daughter of Nelly Franco and Hector Vazquez, she has one sister, Aline Franco. At Centenary, she intends to major in art and visual culture.
