KERRVILLE, Texas – Centenary (15-19) fell to #2 Southwestern (28-5), 25-13, 25-11, 25-17 to wrap up the quarterfinals of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinals Friday, November 3.

After dropping the first two sets, the Ladies rebounded with a strong final frame. Down 3-1, two attack errors and an ace by sophomore Marissa Sandoval put the Ladies up. Trailing 7-4, the Ladies scored 4-of-5 to tie the set at eight. Senior Desiree Frey with a kill and a sophomore Kristian Loving ace brought the deficit to one. After both teams sided out, junior Hailey Lawson hits an ace to tie the set.

Frey led Centenary with six kills, while Lawson added a pair of aces. Sandoval contributed 12 digs.

Down 11-9 later in the set, kills from junior Michaela Brantley around a Pirates error gave Centenary the 12-11 lead.

However, tied at 13, Centenary hit a service error and seven points off of Brandi Campos’ serve put the Pirates four points away from winning the match.
