KERRVILLE, Texas – The Ladies 2017 season came to a close as Centenary (15-20) fell to Austin College (24-13) 25-20, 25-11, 25-16 in the fifth-place match of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon, November 4.

To begin the match, junior Shyann Pisano and senior Desiree Frey found the court on attack attempts. Two attack errors by the ‘Roos gave Centenary a quick 4-0 lead. After Austin College scored three points, the Ladies answered back with another four unanswered. Frey added a pair of kills, junior Michaela Brantley added a kill and Austin College hit another attack error.

Frey finished the match with six kills. She finishes her Centenary career with 1,156 kills and 1,159 digs, good enough for second place in both categories in the career annals.

With Centenary up 15-12 later in the set, Austin College used a 7-1 run to take the lead. A Mayson Kennon kill and two aces from Tatiana Ferrari tied the match. After both team traded a point, a pair of kills from Kennon, a kill from Dani DeWitt, and an error put Austin College up by three.

The ‘Roos would go on to take the set by five. After four attack errors in the first set, Austin College had only one in each of the final two sets and hit .411 (43 kills and six errors on 90 swings) for the match. Kennon led Austin College individually with 12 kills, while Dewitt added nine kills on 12 swings (.750 hitting percentage).
