Ladies Drop Sixth Straight to TCU, 2-0
Wednesday, September 3, 2003

SHREVEPORT--The Centenary Ladies could not manage to gain any momentum offensively as they fell for the sixth straight time to Texas Christian University on Wednesday night, 2-0. The shutout marked the first time the Ladies have been blanked in nine games.

Jessi Moore got the scoring started for the Horned Frogs at the 11:59 mark in the first half when she pounded home a rebound into the right side of the net. Centenary keeper Lindsey Stafford dove to deflect a shot and left the goal exposed as Moore waited all alone on the backside of the goal to score easily.

After the TCU score in the first period, the Ladies recovered to play solid defense the rest of the way. Most of the second half was played in the midfield area as neither team could successfully generate any offense.

Centenary's best scoring chance was thwarted when TCU keeper Katie Buchanan dove to deflect a crossing pass that was headed for Angela Tryba less than five feet in front of the goal.

The Horned Frogs put the game away with just 2:03 remaining in the contest when Elizabeth Walsh won a skirmish in front of the Centenary net for her first goal of the season.

Centenary (1-2) returns to action on Friday when the Ladies host Mississippi Valley State at Mayo Field at 7 p.m.
