SHREVEPORT--The Centenary Ladies fought back from an early 1-0 deficit to score five unanswered goals and easily dispose of Mississippi Valley State 5-1 on Friday evening. Senior Lyndsay Bigler led the way with her first two goals of the season and added an assist in the contest.

Mississippi Valley State (0-1) surprised the Ladies early as Brendalee Britto slipped behind the Centenary defense to score just 38 seconds into the match. The scoring shot would be the last for Britto and the Devilettes would manage only seven more attempts the rest of the way as the Ladies clamped down on defense.

Centenary (2-2) did not trail for long as Bigler found the net at the 10:10 mark and swiftly assisted Angela Tryba a mere two minutes later to claim the lead for the Ladies.

Rita Coolidge blew past the MVSU defense for her first goal on the year to keep the momentum with Centenary 17:34 into play. Coolidge then hooked up with Tryba to provide back-to-back smooth passes that led to Bigler's second goal on the night only 35 seconds later.

Freshman Rita Stevenson added an insurance goal with 5:34 left in the second half off of a cross from Ashley Grannan to put the game away. The score was the first collegiate goal for Stevenson.

The Ladies return to action quickly as they gear up to host Stephen F. Austin on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mayo Field. Centenary is 8-1-1 all-time against the LadyJacks.
