Ladies Fall to SFA, 2-0

SHREVEPORT--The Centenary Ladies fell to 2-3 on the season after losing to Stephen F. Austin State University, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Mayo Field.

Stephen F. Austin (2-2) got on the board with their first goal at the 19:33 mark when Shahin Pabani lofted the ball over Centenary keeper Lindsey Stafford. Sarah Johnson earned the assist on the play after a long pass that left Pabani with a one-on-one with Stafford.

The Ladies found themselves down by one at the half despite leading in shots (7-4) and corner kicks (2-1). The pressure was put on the LadyJack keeper early by Centenary, but Natascia Michalezki answered the call with four saves in the first half. Michalezki finished the match with a total of seven saves.

Stafford compiled four saves, two in each half, but could not get her hands on a blast from 10 yards off the right side from SFA's Kendra Cannon 8:53 into the second period. The goal by Cannon seemed to deflate the Ladies as they were unable to mount any real offensive threat after that point.

After playing three matches in five days, Centenary now will take five days to rest as they do not play again until next Friday. The Ladies travel to Monroe to tangle with area-rival Louisiana-Monroe on Friday at 7 p.m.
