Monday, September 15, 2003

ELMHURST, ILL.--Centenary Ladies goalkeeper Lindsey Stafford was named Mid-Continent Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The accolade marks the second consecutive time the Ladies have earned a player of the week honor as Lyndsay Bigler took the award on the offensive side just seven days ago.

Stafford (Tyler, Tex.) helped the Ladies to a 2-2 tie in double overtime at Louisiana-Monroe last Friday. Although playing through the rainy conditions, Stafford recorded 12 saves while facing 19 shots. She made seven of her saves in the second half and now has 41 saves on the season.

Centenary (2-3-1) will travel to Natchitoches on Wednesday to tangle with Northwestern State at 4:30 p.m. The Ladies will then return to host Oakland University in the first-ever Mid-Con home game on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mayo Field.
