McCALLA, Ala.—Juniors Brett Kaufman and John Kizer shot even-par 72, but the Gents could not gain any ground on the field, finishing in seventh place at the Buffalo Rock Showdown Tuesday at Bent Brook Golf Club.

Centenary shot 294 as a team in the second round to finish at 583 (seven-over-par), 14 strokes behind tournament champion Troy State. Four teams finished the tournament under par, while Belmont and Birmingham Southern both shot better scores in the second round to finish ahead of the Gents.

Kaufman shot his second consecutive even-par round to finish in a tie for 15th place, six strokes behind individual champion Jason Henley of Mercer. Kizer's 72 moved him up 18 spots into a tie for 20th place with a cumulative score of 146 (two-over-par).

Both Brian Grone and Bryan Elliott slipped a little bit, as Grone shot 77 and Elliott fired a 76 in the second round. They both finished at 148 (four-over-par), good enough for a tie for 37th place. Kyle McCotter shot a 74 in the final round for a two-round score of 151 (seven-over-par) and a tie for 51st place.

The men's golf team will play for the third consecutive week next Monday and Tuesday at the ULM/Fred Marx Intercollegiate Tournament. The women's golf team returns to action next week as well, traveling to Tennessee to compete in the Bison Collegiate Classic hosted by Lipscomb University.
