Gents Fall to ORU in Mid-Con Action, 4-0

Shreveport—The Centenary Gents soccer team fell to Oral Roberts 4-0 in Mid-Con play Wednesday night at Mayo Field. Centenary outshot the Golden Eagles 16-14 in the contest, but could not settle into a comfortable rhythm offensively in the match.

Oral Roberts (5-7-1) improved to 2-1 in Mid-Con play as they took advantage of their scoring opportunities all evening. Trey Vaut scored the first of his two goals in the 22nd minute on a give and go from Miguel Menduina. Menduina then added a goal of his own at the 36:22 mark to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 advantage.

The scoring continued for ORU in the 57th minute when Andrew Spencer broke through for his third goal on the season. Vaut then added the final score with 8:25 remaining in the contest to notch his team-leading seventh goal.

Centenary (1-10-1, 0-3-1 Mid-Con) received five saves from keeper Stefan Nicola. Alex Smith took five shots to lead all Gents while Jack Goodloe attempted four shots.

Centenary returns to Mid-Con action on Saturday at 7 p.m. when the Gents host Oakland University at Mayo Field.
