Chicago State Sweeps Centenary In Volleyball

Shreveport—Andrea Rose hit at a .632 hitting percentage and Stacey Cole earned 13 kills, three service aces, and eight digs as the Chicago State Cougars swept the Centenary Ladies, 30-17, 30-25, and 30-24, Friday night at the Gold Dome.

The Cougars won their second consecutive conference match by outhitting the Ladies, .286 to .085. Chicago State earned eight service aces and three total blocks while allowing only five service aces and one block by Centenary.

Tracee Byrd made the most of her attack opportunities, leading the Ladies with nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Byrd also notched a team-high three service aces. Kim Gladu contributed eight kills and 11 digs, while Kelley Heckman led the defense with 15 digs.

Kelly Klotter distributed 44 assists for Chicago State (3-16, 2-4 Mid-Con) and contributed seven digs. Rose earned 12 kills and nine digs, while Shakeila Castile-Jones added 11 kills. Carrie Cederlund led the Cougars with 12 digs.

The Ladies (5-18, 0-6 Mid-Con) will attempt to break their nine-match losing streak Saturday night against the IUPUI Jaguars starting at 7 p.m. at the Gold Dome.
