Centenary Swept By IUPUI In Volleyball

Shreveport—The IUPUI Jaguars, led by Tracy Bailey’s 15 kills and Angela Vinson’s seven total blocks, swept the Centenary Ladies, 30-15, 30-18, and 30-19, Saturday night at the Gold Dome.

After losing a 2-0 lead the previous night at Oral Roberts, the Jaguars (10-11, 4-3 Mid-Con) started strong and did not let up, earning 49 kills, five service aces, 66 digs, and ten team blocks. Bailey hit at a .520 hitting percentage, making only two errors in 25 attack attempts.

Setter Tanna Smith assisted on 38 plays while also notching four kills, two aces, and six digs. IUPUI libero Erin Jones led all players with 23 defensive digs, while Rebekah Pallikan added 11 kills, nine digs, and four blocks.

The Ladies hit at a negative percentage throughout the match, finishing at -.050. Ashley Templer was the only player to hit for a positive percentage, earning a team-high five kills. Casey Varnado led the defense with 14 digs, while Kelley Heckman earned 12 digs and Kim Gladu added 11 digs.

Centenary (5-19, 0-7 Mid-Con) will step out of the conference to host Prairie View A&M at the Gold Dome Wednesday, October 22, at 5 p.m. The Ladies defeated the Panthers earlier this season in four games during the Centenary Volleyball Tournament.
