ORU Snaps Ladies Six-Game Win Streak, 2-1

Tulsa, Okla.—The Centenary Ladies soccer team suffered its first loss in nearly a month as Oral Roberts emerged with a 2-1 victory on a goal in the final minute of play. The defeat snapped a six-game win streak for Centenary and dropped the Ladies to 1-2 in Mid-Continent Conference play.

Centenary (8-7-1, 1-2 Mid-Con) got on the board early with a 1-0 lead when Angela Tryba netted an unassisted goal in the 28th minute. The Ladies carried the one-goal advantage into the half.

Oral Roberts (8-5-1, 3-1 Mid-Con) evened the score in the 53rd minute on an unassisted goal from freshman Mandy Evans.

The game remained knotted at 1-1 until the final minute of the match when Michelle Hoogveld took a Gentry Detter pass and found the net with 41 seconds remaining to claim the win.

Centenary keeper Lindsey Stafford collected eight saves on the evening as she defensed 18 shots by the Golden Eagles.

The Ladies return to action on Friday when they host Southern Utah in the final home match of the season. Gametime is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Mayo Field.
