SHREVEPORT – Centenary men’s basketball head coach Kevin Johnson has announced that the Gents have signed Marcellis Kizer to come to Centenary beginning with the 2004-05 school year.

Kizer is a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., who is presently playing for Marshalltown Community College, the same junior college that produced senior guard Derek Sallis. Last season Kizer averaged 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game. The 6’3”, 185-pound point guard was named All-City while at Southside High School in Fort Wayne. Kizer has also played for Eric Vaugh on the Blessed IJN AAU team.

“I’m so excited about signing Marty. He’s tough, aggressive, and extremely smart on the floor. He has superb vision and always makes the right decision,” Johnson said.

Centenary College of Louisiana is a member of the NCAA and the Mid-Continent Conference, a Division I organization. The Gents have won 14 games in back-to-back seasons and bring back an experienced squad for the 2003-04 season.
