Ladies Improve on Second Day of Oneida Tourney

Green Bay, Wis.—After dropping the first game of the Oneida Bingo & Casino Holiday Tournament to the host team (Wisconsin-Green Bay), 97-48, the Ladies played much better on Saturday but the end result was the same. Centenary fell to Austin Peay State in the consolation match-up by the score of 72-60.

Centenary (1-4) trailed at the half 35-22 after shooting 29.6 percent in the opening period. However, the Ladies improved in the second half, winning the final 20 minutes 38-37.

Alexis Pettway led the Ladies with 14 points and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Holli Wilkins contributed nine points in the loss while Louise Smyth collected a game-high five steals in only ten minutes of action.

Austin Peay State (2-2) found themselves in the consolation game after dropping their opening round contest to Missouri. The Lady Govs were paced by Gerlonda Hardin who scored 23 points and pulled down 11 boards. Cassandra Peek and Ashley Haynes each added 13 points on the evening.

Centenary will return to action on Tuesday when the Ladies host Northwestern State at the Gold Dome at 5 p.m.
