SHREVEPORT – After a convincing win Tuesday night over Northwestern State, the Centenary Gents continue their four-game homestand Saturday night with a matchup against the McNeese State Cowboys.

This will be the first meeting between Centenary and McNeese State since 1977, and the 19th meeting overall between the two Louisiana schools. Centenary is in the middle of a three-game stretch against Southland Conference schools.

The Cowboys come into Saturday night’s game with a 3-2 record, with their two losses coming at LSU and at Mississippi State. McNeese State is led by Edward Garriet, one of the best three-point shooters in the country. He is averaging 17.8 points per game thanks to a 42.6 percent effort (23-of-54) from behind the three-point line.

Greg Tucker is averaging 15.4 points per game for the Cowboys, while Bryce May has added 10.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for McNeese State. Jerrick Oliver has been the team’s leading rebounder with 5.8 rebounds per game, and Eldridge Lewis has been successful at running the offense, averaging 5.8 points and 3.8 assists per game.

“McNeese State is very tough and physical and plays extremely hard,” Centenary head coach Kevin Johnson said. “This will not be an easy game for us to win.”

Thanks to a 24-point, five-assist effort against the Demons on Tuesday, Andrew Wisniewski continues to lead the Gents in scoring and assists with 19.2 points and five assists per game. Michael Gale has not missed too many shots from the field, hitting 70.4 percent (19-of-27) of his field goal attempts.

Centenary (2-2) has its own three-point marksman in Josh Thibodeaux, who has come off the bench to hit 9-of-14 attempts from behind the three-point arc. Rickey Evans has contributed in many ways for the Gents, averaging 13 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game so far this season.

The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:05 p.m. at the Gold Dome on Saturday night, and it will be broadcast on KYLA 106.7 FM and Sportsjuice.com.
