Wisniewski Tabbed LSWA Player of the Week
Thursday, January 8, 2004

Baton Rouge—Centenary’s Andrew Wisniewski was named the Louisiana men’s basketball player of the week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association earlier this week. The honor is the first for Wisniewski this year, but the senior guard from Staten Island, NY, has earned the accolade in previous seasons.

Wisniewski averaged 22.0 points per game in the Gents’ split of Stephen F. Austin and Chicago State in late December. He scored 27 points in Centenary’s loss to SFA and then hit for 17 points in the Mid-Continent Conference opening win over Chicago State. Wisniewski also collected eight rebounds and five assists in the win over CSU.

Wisniewski currently places in the top five of the Mid-Con individual rankings for points per game and assists. He has scored at least 17 points in 10 of the team’s 11 games and will lead the Gents into their first road contests this weekend as a member of the Mid-Con. Centenary will face Southern Utah on Thursday before taking on UMKC on Saturday.
