Cedar City, Utah—The Centenary women’s basketball team dropped their second consecutive Mid-Con contest as the Ladies fell on the road at Southern Utah 75-59. The Ladies held a 50-39 advantage on the boards, but committed 29 turnovers in the loss.

Centenary (3-11/1-2 Mid-Con) trailed 30-14 at the half due in large part to a 14-2 Thunderbird run that sent the game from a 6-6 tie in the early going to a 20-8 SUU lead. Louise Smyth ended the drought with a three-pointer, but the Ladies would never get closer than nine points the rest of the way. Centenary shot just 17.2 percent in the first half including 8.3 percent from behind the three-point arc.

Southern Utah (11-3/2-1 Mid-Con) received big games from Lacey Yates and Casey Cooke who each finished with 15 points. Yates added seven rebounds to her point total while Cooke tallied seven assists. Janis Beal and Katy Cooke each contributed ten points in the win.

Smyth led the Ladies in scoring with 13 points off the bench on a 4-of-8 effort from the field, all from the three-point line. Alexis Pettway collected her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 boards and Holli Wilkins added ten points. Point guard Tori Alloway scored nine points while garnering four steals and dishing out seven assists.

Centenary will return to action on Saturday when the Ladies come home to host Oakland in another Mid-Con match-up at 4:30 p.m. in the Gold Dome.
