Centenary Gymnastics Plows Through Winona State

Shreveport—The Centenary Ladies gymnastics team improved to 2-1 on the season with a convincing 191.975 to 181.225 thumping of Winona State in the Gold Dome on Friday evening. The Ladies took 13 of 15 individual honors in the victory.

Sophomore Tara Mitchell led the Ladies as she garnered two first place finishes and a second place showing. Mitchell recorded a 9.900 on the balance beam and a 9.575 on the vault to take both events while posting a 9.700 on the uneven bars to place second. Freshman standout Kristina Menne took the all-around in her third consecutive meet with a total of 38.275. She also finished second on the bars and beam while taking the top spot on the floor exercise with a 9.875.

Centenary gymnasts took first, second, and third place in three of the four rotations as Emily Brys of Winona State prevented the sweep with a third place showing on the beam. Brys also took third place in the all-around with Kaela Meinert ranking second in the competition for the Ladies.

Centenary will travel to Monroe on Sunday for a rare off-campus home meet. The Ladies will host Winona State on the campus of Louisiana-Monroe at 2 p.m.
