Wisniewski Named LSWA Player of the Week

BATON ROUGE, La. – For the third time this season, Centenary senior guard Andrew Wisniewski (Staten Island, NY) has been named Player of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) for his recent performances.

Wisniewski, named Co-Player of the Week by the Mid-Con on Monday, averaged 24.5 points per game as the Gents went 2-0 in conference play and moved into fourth place in the Mid-Con standings. In the two games, victories over Western Illinois and IUPUI, he shot 76 percent from the field (19-of-25), including 60 percent from the three-point line (6-of-10), and 83.3 percent from the free throw line (5-of-6).

At Western Illinois last Thursday, he notched his third 30-point game of the season and ninth of his career. Wisniewski scored 30 points, dished out six assists, grabbed four rebounds, and earned two steals. He followed that up with a 19-point effort against then-conference leader IUPUI, grabbing three rebounds, dishing out two assists, and committing one steal.

Wisniewski is in the conference top ten in eight different statistical categories and has moved into 15th place in Division I in scoring, averaging 21.8 points per game. In conference games, he is second in the Mid-Con in scoring (23.8 ppg), three-point field goal percentage (53.7%) and three-point field goals made (3.62 per game).

Wisniewski and the Gents will return to action Thursday night at the Gold Dome against conference leader Valparaiso beginning at 7:05 p.m.
