ELMHURST, Ill. – For the second consecutive week, Cheyenne Daries has been named the Mid-Con Pitcher of the Week for her performances in the pitching circle over the past seven days.

The senior from Salinas, Calif., went 1-2 with a 1.69 earned run average in 20 2/3 innings of work. She allowed only 13 hits and struck out 12 opposing batters during the Crowne Plaza Classic in Houston, Tex.

Daries lost to Houston on Friday and Indiana on Saturday, both by a 1-0 count. On Sunday morning, she pitched 6 2/3 innings, not giving up a hit until the bottom of the sixth inning, as the Ladies upset Florida, 7-4.

Daries leads the Ladies with five victories, a 1.83 earned run average, five complete games, two shutouts, and 47 strikeouts. With 433 career strikeouts, she has already passed Donna Krolczyk to become Centenary’s all-time leader in strikeouts and has her sights set on breaking Krolczyk’s single-season record of 165 strikeouts set in 1994.

The Centenary softball team is in Tulsa, Okla., for the Holiday Inn Select Tulsa Festival this weekend. The Ladies will face Drake, Tulsa, Saint Louis, UAB, and Texas Tech during the tournament.
