Ladies End Season With 81-50 Loss to ORU

Shreveport—The Centenary Ladies were officially eliminated from the field for the upcoming Mid-Con Tournament with an 81-50 loss to Oral Roberts at home on Monday night. Seniors Alexis Pettway, Julie Danieles, and Louise Smyth were all honored for their four years of service before the game. The trio are the first four-year seniors in the history of the young program.

Centenary (4-23, 2-14 Mid-Con) fell victim to a sizzling hot Golden Eagles team that raced out to a halftime lead of 46-21 while shooting 60 percent (18-of-30) from the field in the opening period. Oral Roberts (15-12, 9-7 Mid-Con) also used their height advantage to haul in 48 boards in the game compared to only 32 for the Ladies.

Pettway finished her career with her 18th double-double, posting 16 points and 12 rebounds. The all-time scoring and rebounding leader for Centenary, Pettway ended her tenure in a Ladies uniform with 1,416 points and 797 rebounds.

Danieles also scored in double figures in her finale with 13 points. She surpassed the 1,000-point barrier earlier in the season and ended her career with 1,038 points as the most prolific three-point shooter in the history of the program.

Smyth did not score in her final game but did pull down a season-high four rebounds. She owns the Centenary career mark for three-point shooting percentage and ranks second for most treys made.

Oral Roberts was led by Katie Langford’s 16 points. Elisha Turek added 13 points to the winning cause while Claudia Louis and Alycia Seay contributed 11 points and ten points respectively. Leah Cannon finished with nine points and nine assists and Maureen Obudho collected ten boards to go with her nine points.
