#6 LSU Tigers Too Much for Centenary Gymnastics

Shreveport—The Centenary Ladies gymnastics team performed well but was over powered by the #6 LSU Tigers in the Gold Dome on Friday evening 197.650 to 194.725. The evening was highlighted by two perfect routines by Terin Martinjak and April Burkholder of LSU. Both scored a 10.0 on the balance beam to share the individual title on the event.

Centenary’s Kristina Menne took first place on the floor exercise with a 9.950 and also claimed the all-around crown with a school-record 39.275. Tara Mitchell placed third on the floor with a mark of 9.900. The Ladies also set a new standard on the vault with a team score of 48.425 paced by Sarah Ball’s 9.725 effort.

LSU claimed the top spots on the beam as well as the vault and bars. Burkholder and teammate Nicki Butler both scored a 9.975 on the vault to take the title for LSU while Annie Gagnon recorded a 9.950 on the uneven bars to garner first place.

The Ladies will travel to Norman, Ill., next Saturday for the Midwest Independent Championships before competing in the USAG National Championships in Denton, Tex., April 9-11.
