Adkison Tabbed as Mid-Con, LSWA Player of the Week

Elmhurst, Ill.—For the fourth time this season, a Centenary baseball player as been named the Mid-Con Player of the Week. Blake Adkison earned the honor for his efforts last week after hitting .500 over his last five games, during which the Gents went 3-2. The senior was also selected as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Hitter of the Week.

Adkison (Tyler, Tex.) continued his hot hitting at the plate by going 9-for-18 with four home runs, eight RBI, and five runs scored over the last seven days. He started the week by picking up a pair of hits, including a solo homer, against the #1 LSU Tigers at Fair Grounds Field. He put on a power display a few days later in a doubleheader sweep of IPFW, belting three home runs in the two games, including solo shots in each of his first two at-bats in the nightcap. Adkison, who recorded four multi-hit contests last week and extended his hit streak to 11 games, is now batting a league-best .432 this season.

Adkison and the rest of the Gents will travel to face Texas-Arlington on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Centenary will open the Mid-Con portion of its schedule on April 9th and 10th when it hosts Valparaiso at noon each day.
