Centenary Gymnasts Advance to Finals, Menne Crowned National Champion

Denton, Tex.—The Centenary Ladies performed well in the opening round of the USA Gymnastics Championships in Denton, Texas. The team posted a 193.275 to finish first on the first day of competition and advance to the finals. Freshman standout Kristina Menne totaled a 38.975 in her four events to become the National Champion in the all-around.

Junior Kaela Meinert and sophomore Tara Mitchell placed fifth and seventh respectively in the all-around competition to earn All-American status. All-American Jennie Jackson won the uneven bars with a 9.825 and will compete along with Menne on the event in the individual finals on Saturday.

On the balance beam, Menne, Meinert, and Sarah Racioppi earned All-American accolades and will advance to the finals. Racioppi won the event with a performance that yielded a 9.825 while Menne and Meinert tied for fifth place. Racioppi and Menne finished second and fourth on the floor exercise to earn the honors in that event as well.

The top eight individuals on each event are named All-Americans and those eight advance to the individual finals where they battle for the right to be crowned a national champion.
