Gents, Elliott Finish Second at Mid-Con Golf Championships

Indianapolis, Ind.—The Centenary Gents entered the final round of the Mid-Continent Conference Golf Championship leading by three strokes but were unable to hold on as Western Illinois defeated the first day leaders by one stroke. Centenary finished in second place with a three-round total of 917 (+53) while the Leathernecks totaled a final score of 916.

Freshman Bryan Elliott led the Centenary charge, firing a final round 72 to finish second among all individuals with a final score of 225 (+9). By virtue of his top five finish, Elliott was selected as a first team All-Mid-Continent Conference member. In addition, he was named the Mid-Con Newcomer of the Year after recording the best finish of all freshman or transfers in their first year of competition at their respective schools.

Brett Kaufman and Brian Grone missed second team All-Mid-Con honors by one stroke after shooting a 231 (+15) and finishing in a tie for 11th place. John Kizer’s 238 (+22) and David Viviano’s 239 (+23) effort placed them in 22nd and 24th place respectively to round out the Centenary participants.

On the Ladies side, individual qualifier Repsie Schirmer placed inside the top 20 at 17th after posting a three-round total of 260.
