Shreveport—Centenary women’s basketball coach Elizabeth Wamsley has announced the signing of Brittany Barbee to a National Letter of Intent for the 2004-05 academic year. Barbee is the first signee for Wamsley who was named head coach of the Ladies basketball program on April 21st.

Barbee (Hernando, Miss.) averaged 10.4 ppg, 7.1 apg, and 3.7 spg while playing point guard at the Southern Baptist Education Center (SBEC). “Brittany brings an incredible work ethic and tremendous spirit to our team,” said Wamsley. “As a solid point guard, she should have an immediate impact on the court and we are excited that she has chosen to come to Centenary.”

Barbee has also excelled in the classroom as she was selected as the valedictorian of her class and served as the class president and the president of the National Honor Society.

Located in Shreveport, La., Centenary is a Division I member of the Mid-Continent Conference. With an enrollment of 890 undergraduate students, Centenary is the smallest Division I school in the nation and is the oldest college west of the Mississippi River having been founded in 1825.
