Softball's Kelley Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Team

Houston, Tex.—Centenary softball player Janis Kelley has been selected as a first team member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District VI team.

Kelley, a junior designated player from Keithville, La., earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.39 through her first three years at Centenary while majoring in health and exercise science. She currently leads the Mid-Continent Conference in homeruns and saves, showcasing her skills as both a hitter and a pitcher. She also places in the top ten in several Mid-Con categories including slugging percentage, runs batted in, and total bases.

Kelley has twice been named the Mid-Con Player of the Week and ranks third in the NCAA among all Division I pitchers in saves. She has set school records for most homeruns in a season (13), most homeruns in a career (22), most saves in a season (8), and most saves in a career (12). She also tied the NCAA record for most doubles in a game with three against Grambling State.

Kelley looks to help the Centenary Ladies to their first NCAA Tournament birth as the team opens play as the #2 seed in the Mid-Con Tournament on Friday afternoon in Macomb, Ill..
