Mobile, Ala.—Centenary first baseman Blake Adkison has been named to the 2004 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings all-South Central Region first team for his efforts this season. The senior from Tyler, Texas, was given the honor by head coaches of 33 schools representing seven conferences in the region.

Adkison was named the first base representative on the all-South Central Region team after hitting .395 on the season with 16 homeruns and 58 RBI. His batting average, total hits, doubles, homeruns, total bases, slugging percentage, and runs batted in for the year all rank in the single season top ten in the Gents record book. He recorded 21 multi-hit, 13 multi-RBI, and three multi-homerun games including three in one contest against Mid-Con foe Oakland.

Adksion was twice named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week and received first team All-Mid-Con accolades after finishing near the top in numerous conference offensive categories.

In all, 14 players were selected to the all-South Central Region first team while 12 were named to the second team. All first team members, including Adkison, become eligible for All-America status. The All-America teams will be announced later this week at the College World Series in Omaha.
