New Orleans, La.—Centenary senior baseball players Blake Adkison and Tony Cardone were selected to the 2004 Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana Team over the weekend. Adkison was named to the second team while Cardone received honorable mention accolades.

For Adkison (Tyler, Tex.), the honor caps a fantastic final season after which he was selected as a first team member to both the All-Mid-Continent Conference and All-South Central Region teams. Earlier this week the first baseman signed a contract with the Kansas City Royals and is currently playing for the Arizona Royals of the Arizona Rookie League. Adkison hit .395 for the Gents this season with 16 homeruns and 58 RBI.

Cardone (Shreveport, La.) received honorable mention status for his exceptional play both in the infield and at the plate. The shortstop, known for making the difficult play look easy defensively, excelled offensively in his final season with the Gents. Cardone led the team with 78 hits and finished second with a .377 batting average. He recorded a team-best 17-game hit streak and collected 23 multi-hit games, including five games with four hits.
