Centenary Gents Lose by One to Western Kentucky

MEMPHIS—Playing in their second match of the Memphis Soccer Tournament, the Centenary Gents were surpassed by Western Kentucky 2-1 in an aggressive match on Saturday night at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Western Kentucky came out strong in the first half maximizing on attacking opportunities. At the 13:48 mark, WKU (1-1-0) senior Trey Alexander seized an attempted defensive clearing pass and took it to the net. The scoring continued for WKU when in the 29th minute junior Steven Medlock headed the ball in off a cross from junior Jacob Isenhour.

The Gents fought back in the second half outshooting WKU. In the 62nd minute senior Jack Goodloe was able to place a precise ball off a free kick to freshamn Ben Caldarera for the header and goal.

Centenary freshman goalie Ransone Rose had a season high of seven saves.

The Gents (0-2-0) will be on the road next weekend playing in the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Georgia. They will be competing against Mercer on Friday at 7:00 p.m and Georgia State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
