Gents Soccer Falls Short to Detroit Titans

DETROIT- Unable to continue putting points on the board, the Centenary men’s soccer team fell in a back and forth match against the Detroit Titans 5-3 on Sunday in Detroit.

The Titans (4-4-0) scored once in the first half when Andrew Ornoch found the net in the 20th minute taking a 1-0 lead at intermission.

After the break, Titan’s Ablaya Camara scored his first of four goals off a breakaway at the 56:11 mark. Two minutes later, senior Jack Goodloe scored with a powerful shot to the upper left corner to bring the Gents within one. The Titans gave it to Camara again, putting their third point on the board in the 64th minute.

Freshman Ben Caldarera answered back scoring at the 67:38 mark off a Goodloe assist to draw the Gents once again within one, but Camara scored seventeen minutes later to put Detroit back on top.

Continuing their relentless attack, freshman Osama Buazza scored his first goal of the year on a breakaway in the 85th minute. With less than three minutes on the clock, Camara broke past the Gents defense to score his fourth goal and earn the win for the Titans.

The Gents (1-5-1) return to Mayo field looking to regroup, as they play their second conference match of the year against Valparaiso on Saturday at 7 p.m.
