Gents Golf Finishes Last at ULM/Fred Marx Invitational

MONROE – The Centenary men’s golf team concluded play at the Louisiana-Monroe/Fred Marx Invitational in last place, shooting a 932 and finishing 51 strokes off the lead. The Gents shot 309 on the day, with rounds of 317 and 306 on Monday.

Brett Kaufman led Centenary with a 224, good enough to finish tied for 18th overall, ending eight strokes off par. He was followed by David Viviano (+19, 235), John Kizer (+20, 236), Ryan Oliver (+22, 238), and Brian Grone (+29, 245) who finished tied for 57th, 59th, t-61st, and t-67th respectively. In individual play, John Winkler shot a 242, finishing tied for 65th place.

In a close contest, Stephen F. Austin finished first, shooting 17 over par with 881. Second was Louisiana Tech (+20), followed closely by host Louisiana-Monroe (+21), Sam Houston State (+23), and McNeese State (+24). Finishing out the pack was Birmingham-Southern (+30), Louisiana-Monroe (B) (+38), New Orleans (+39), Jackson State (+41), Texas State (+47), Nicholls State (+48), and Centenary (+68)
