LaTech vs. Centenary Box Score

Shreveport—The Centenary women’s soccer team ended their three-match losing streak in a dominating fashion, shutting out visiting Louisiana Tech 4-0. After scoring only one goal in their last three matches, the Ladies responded by outshooting the Lady Techsters 42-1 and not allowing a shot on goal.

The Ladies (6-3-1,1-1) jumped on the board early as freshman Bre Fletcher scored her first collegiate goal in the 16th minute. After surviving a barrage of shots by Centenary’s offense, Lady Techster keeper Jade Berbert mishandled a bending shot by Fletcher from 18 yards out.

Louisiana Tech (0-6) managed to enter the break trailing by one goal despite facing 22 first half attempts by the Ladies. Berbert played solidly between the pipes, making several spectacular saves, finishing with 21 on the night. Ladies goalkeeper Lindsey Stafford earned her fourth shutout of the year despite not recording a save.

Centenary dominated possession in the second half as freshman Tara Sageser scored her team high seventh goal of the season. After maneuvering through the Louisiana Tech defense, she blasted a shot across the box, banking it against the far post as it fell past the diving keeper.

Despite having a comfortable two goal lead, the Ladies remained persistent, scoring on a rebound shot by senior Mindi Levinski in the 71st minute and again in the 84th minute by freshman Rachel Alexander. The goal was the third of the year for Levinski and the first for Alexander.

The Ladies continue their homestand Friday as they host conference foe Valparaiso. Centenary played the Crusaders to a 1-1 draw last season, their first in the Mid-Continent Conference.
