Centenary Swimming Falls to Louisiana Monroe

SHREVEPORT - Centenary's swim teams fell to Louisiana Monroe on Saturday afternoon at the Haynes Fitness Center.  ULM swept the relays for the win, beating the Gents 101-67 and the Ladies 119-82.

 

The Indians came out on top in 14 events, winning their first meet of the season. Despite the loss, Centenary had many impressive individual finishes. Freshman Robert Hendricks pulled out early in the 1000-free holding the lead for the win, touching at 10:18.85.  Fellow freshman Ross Gilbert finished third, being edged out at the wall by ULM’s Sebastiar Sanchez.

 

Also finishing first was sophomore Robert Trempski, who came off the blocks strong and finished a body length ahead of the field in the 200-back with a time of 1:57.80. In the 50-free, freshman Roddie Haley had a flawless start touching the wall at 22.28 for the victory.

 

The Ladies were led by freshman Traci Wimberley who earned first place in the 200-back (2:24.83) and took second in the 200 IM with team captain Kayli LeBlanc right behind her in third.  Freshman Lori Von Pingel clocked in at 26.35 in the 50-free to finish second.

 

Centenary will head to Arkadelphia, Ark., on October 22 to take on Ouachita Baptist and Delta State.  The meet will start at 6:00 p.m.
