SHREVEPORT –Mid-Con scoring leader Jessica Kellogg notched two early goals as the Ladies fell to Oral Roberts 2-1.  Centenary drops to .500 in league play, while the Golden Eagles remain the only undefeated squad in the Mid-Continent Conference.

Centenary (9-4-1, 2-2) started out sluggish, allowing Kellogg and the Golden Eagles (10-3-0, 2-0) to score two quick goals in the 18th and 25th minutes.  Oral Roberts outshot the Ladies 10-2 in the first frame, forcing keeper Lindsey Stafford to stay on her toes as she collected five of her six saves on the day.

Both teams got a bit of a scare at the end of the first half as Centenary senior Ashlee Mantooth and Oral Roberts’ Chelsea Ryden collided on a 50-50 ball, leaving both players hurt and bloodied.

The Ladies entered the second period on a tear, dominating possession and controlling the pace of the match.  Senior Rita Coolidge dented ORU’s lead, penetrating through the Golden Eagles defense and blasting the ball past the out-of-position goalkeeper.  Although Centenary outshot their opponent 6-3 in the second stanza, the two-goal lead was too much to overcome.

Centenary looks to rebound from their first home loss as they travel to face Mid-Con foe Western Illinois on Friday and Northern Illinois on Sunday.
