Centenary Swimming Swept by OBU and Delta State

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Centenary swim team lost a difficult double dual meet against Delta State and Ouachita Baptist at the Ouachita Waggoner pool on Friday night. The Gents dropped a 64-31 decision to the Tigers and a 92-19 decision to the Statesmen, while the Ladies fell to the Tigers 92-13 and the Lady Statesmen 96-16.


Despite the loss, Centenary performed well individually, subtracting time in their respected events. Freshman Dustin Myers shaved off over a second from his prior showings in the 200 free, finishing third with a time of 1:51.05.

Freshman Jonathan Harrop finished right behind Myers with a time of 1:51.46.


Also snatching third place finishes were Gents team captain Jacob Stevens in the 200 IM (2:03.11), Robert Trempski in the 200 back (2:03.20), and Robert Hendricks in the 1000 free (10.22.10).


The Ladies were lead by freshman swimmers Sara Hansen and Melanie Zimmerman.  Hansen led the pack in the 200 IM with an impressive 29.65 fly spilt, but fell behind finishing third, touching the wall at 2:17.89.  Zimmerman also finished third in the 50 free touching at 26.99.



Centenary will return to the pool next weekend to participate in the Hendrix Classic and Relays in Conway, Ark. beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m.
