Unlucky 13? Not for Ladies Soccer

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – With a season high 13 saves, Centenary keeper Lindsey Stafford broke the school record for saves in a season as the Ladies won their 13th match of the year, defeating Southern Miss 2-1.  Sophomore Rebecca Swilley notched her fourth game-winning goal of the season, increasing her point total to 13 on the year.

The Ladies faced 23 shots in the match, helping pave the way for Stafford’s record setting day.  Her 113 saves this season surpass her own record of 109 last year which she shared with Martha Chaney (1993).  Stafford has posted five double-digit save matches this season.

Centenary (13-4-1, 4-2) found themselves down by one just before halftime after the Lady Eagles (5-10-1, 1-8) scored off a corner kick at the 42:39 mark.  Senior Mindi Levinksi knotted the score at one apiece in the 57th minute while Swilley put the match away 13 minutes later, heading home a free kick from senior Sara Thompson.

The Ladies return home for their final regular season match Sunday, October 31st, at 1:00 pm at Mayo Field.  Seven seniors will be honored on Senior Day as Centenary hosts McNeese State.
