SHREVPORT– Junior JJ Meyer scored a pair of goals, as the Gents polished off Dallas Baptist 3-1 in their last home match of the season on Tuesday night.

Centenary dominated the flow of the first 45 minutes by spreading the field and using their passing game to create scoring opportunities. Centenary outshot the Patriots 10-5 and held a 3-0 advantage in corners. The buzzer sounded with both teams going into intermission scoreless.

Entering the second half, the Gents refocused as senior Joseph Sidaros found Jason Williams open in the middle of the box for the first point of the night at the 61:10 mark.  Less than three minutes later, DBU evened the score at 1-1 on a goal by Jared Billups.

After the Patriots tied it, the Gents powered their way back into their opponent's box as freshman Brody Sager flicked a ball to a charging Meyer for the diving header giving Centenary a 2-1 advantage in the 68th minute.

With one minute left on the clock, Meyer materialized once again, pounding in a deflected shot for his second goal of the night. Meyer is tied for the team lead in goals for the season with four.

Being the last home game of the season, it was the final home match for seniors Greg Clarke, Aaron Elrod, Jack Goodloe, Michael Krulin, Jeffrey Krulin, Joseph Sidaros, and Jason Williams.

With three conference matches remaining, Centenary travels to Tulsa to take on Oral Roberts on Friday and UMKC on Sunday.  The Gents need to win in order to help the team’s chances for a Mid-Con tournament bid.
