Ladies Volleyball Falls to UMKC 3-0

Kansas City, Mo – Coming off a tough five game loss to Grambling, the Centenary women’s volleyball team continued their struggles on the road, falling to UMKC 30-15, 30-24, and 30-19.  The Ladies (6-26, 0-11 Mid-Con) lost to the Kangaroos (6-19, 4-8 Mid-Con) for the second time this season.

 

            Junior Tracee Byrd led Centenary with 12 kills and the team’s only ace of the match.  Byrd and junior Catey Batte were the highlights of the Ladies offense, hitting .308 and .250 respectively.  Freshman Lindsay Bekelja added 26 assists and nine digs, tied for the team high with junior Kelley Heckman and Batte.

 

 UMKC controlled play at the net with two players posting double-digit kills and more than doubling the Ladies total team blocks 15-6.

 

The Ladies conclude their 2004 road matches game at Western Illinois Saturday, November 6.
